We have spent short (for 1 week) but truly splendid vacation riding with a rental car from the north France through Belgian to Netherlands. Arriving to Paris and taking rent car without delay we head for Orleans, the planned start point of our travel.

By the way having the strict plan we figured out beforehand helped us not only to save time and money but enjoy the travel in full measure. There is a small and cozy but full of interesting something worth seeing old town Valkenburg in Netherlands where we spent unforgettable 2 days walking with out friends, watching Town Walls and beautiful Valkenburg old streets and houses, Dwingelrots, founded in the 12th century (Castle Rock), which is crowned by the ruined castle of the lords of Valkenburg, trying tasty food in many of restaurants we met on the way.

Then we visited the Valkenburg oldest train station in the Netherlands, that was built in 1853 and still in use then it was checked by us immediately. It is on the train line between Heerlen and Maastricht with connections from both sides every 15 minutes. The city center can be reached on foot from the train station in 5 minutes. So Maastricht is our next destination.

As I said Valkenburg counts plenty of restaurants; most of them proposing snacks, pizzas, Dutch tapes and touristy menus. Some of them, such as Amadeus, we loved the most. Amadeus is named after the famous composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart of course and designed in style of inspiration and always perfection.

The food is looking and tasting just great and trying the sate royal for lunch we didn’t have to eat for a while. Also we enjoy well cooked food, good portions, the friendly and fluent service there. So, we were not disappointed.
When well known french novelist Francoise Sagan set out a clear list of her life priorities day after her first book was published (1954) she wrote “Order a whisky – I’ll become a novelist, I will be famous, I’ll buy a Jaguar, wear fur and travel a lot with my car”. And she stuck to them. As you know Sagan became more famous for her drinking, her cars and her passion for life in the fast lane.
Today if you are not novelist yet but still want to get any kind of travel you wish including road trip no problem to realize it. Being in different places of the world I always prefer to hire a car loving to see the sights far from the bored beaten tourist’s tracks.

The fact is it’s easy now to find, check out, compare prices and finally hire car you need right from your home comfort. There are a wide range of perfect online services such as Van Leasing for instance providing perfect car leasing and contract hire options for any kind of business or personal use.
So, whether you want to make a fuss of your friend driving Jaguar like Francoise Sagan or just need to lease a cars for personal and business use the possibilities to turn your dream into reality are really endless. Some days you’re a bug, some days you’re a windshield:-)
This site is just my notes about the places I’ve been already or planning to discover yet. Now I’d like to talk about Spain. I’ve been there this winter. It was first time I been seeing this wonderful land where lived Antoni Gaudí and Federico García Lorca, Garcilaso de Vega and Miguel de Cervantes, Antonio Machado and Juan Ramón Jiménez, Vasco Núñez de Balboa and Francisco Pizarro, Manuel de Falla and Joaquín Turina, Spain is homeland for such famous spanish artist as El Greco, Pablo Picasso, Diego Velazquez, Francisco Goya, Salvador Dalí, Joan Miro and more. And all this make my heart full of trembling and delight.
Then I just might follow my most faforite Spanish poet Juan Ramon Jimenez to reiterate his charming verses in trying to describe my feelings.
Your voice of white fire
in the universe of water, the ship, the sky,
marking out the roads with delight,
engraving for me with a blazing light my firm orbit:
a black body
with the glowing diamond in its center.
Well, what are the best places must be visited in Spain.
First of all it is beauty Barcelona of course, the heart and muse of Spain. What could inspire a poet more than a summer evening in Barcelona? Perhaps this is why the annual E-Poetry festival takes place in Barcelona. Barcelona, capital of Catalonia is unequivocally a Mediterranean city, not only because of its geographic location but also and above all because of its history, tradition and cultural influences.

The documented history of the city dates back to the founding of a Roman colony on its soil in the second century B.C. Modern Barcelona experienced spectacular growth and economic revival at the onset of industrialization during the second half of the 19th century. The 1888 World’s Fair became a symbol of the capacity for hard work and the international outlook projected by the city. Culture and the arts flourished in Barcelona and in all of Catalonia; the splendor achieved by Catalonian modernism is one of the most patent displays.
Madrid
Madrid is a remarkable city. The “must sees” of the city are Old Madrid, the Museo del Prado, and the Palacio Real. Make no mistake, the museums, architecture, dining, and entertainment in Madrid are spectacular.
Andalusia
Much of Andalusia is synonymous with “Moorish Spain”. The following towns are well worth visiting:

Seville
One of the grand cities of Spain, Seville attracts many tourists due to its splendid architecture and interesting attractions. Seville’s Cathedral is popular due to its architecture, its tomb of Christopher Columbus and the attractiveness of its noted bell tower (the Giralda). Cross the square and visit the Alcazar, a stunning, well preserved, medieval, Islamic palace. Follow-up with a visit to the grand Plaza de Espana.
Cordoba
Cordoba was the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate that controlled Andalusia and a large portion of what is now Spain between the 8th and 11th centuries. Cordoba is considered by many travelers to be one of the most beautiful destinations in southern Spain.

The historic center of Cordoba is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is best known for its Moorish extravaganza, the Mezquita (Mosque, which is a visual treasure. During the Reconquest of Spain by the Catholics in the 13th century (Reconquista), a baroque cathedral known as Santa Maria Mayor was built within the Mezquita.
Granada
If you have to choose one town to visit in Andalusia, make it Granada. The Moorish Alhambra is beautiful, taking advantage of its glorious setting in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The Alhambra’s architecture is intricate, purposeful, and important. Budget your time to spend the better part of a day, just in the Alhambra. Of course, the rest of the Granada provides many attractive areas to explore, including the Albaicín and the Old City.

Costa del Sol
Many complain that Costa del Sol has become a continuous set of high rise apartments, blighting the landscape. The observation may be true but the majority of vacationers who visit Spain come to the Costa del Sol to sunbathe and escape the hot and cold seasons in the rest of Europe. Use Spain Car Hire to visit all pleaces you are interested in. Concrete aside, there is a lot to like about the area, as the scenery is great and some of towns are quite striking, especially Malaga and its striking Alcazaba, a palace from Moorish times.
Toledo
Toledo, once the capital of Spain, is dramatically situated on a hill above the River Tagus, which is traveling to the Atlantic via Lisbon. Toledo is a noted UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Cathedral (Catedral de Toledo), which has an interesting and long running history, the Alcazar, the Mezquita del Cristo (mosque), and the Casa-Museo de El Greco (containing twenty of the Artist’s best-known paintings). Toledo was occupied by the Romans, Visigoths, Moors and Christians. Its architecture and essence reflect the mixing of Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
Castilla y Léon
Salamanca
Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Salamanca is a historic university town known for its outstanding and well-preserved architecture. Most visitors spend considerable time in the Plaza Mayor, the social center of the city, known for its fine shops and good food. Many travelers visit both the New (Catedral Nueva) and Old (Catedral Vieja) Cathedrals, which are joined and offer interesting contrasts in architecture. Salamanca University is one of the oldest centers for learning in Europe and the oldest university in Spain.
Avila
Avila is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its famous medieval walls (considered among the best preserved in Europe) and interesting old town. Avila offers good food, great shopping and fine walking. The Catedral de Avila and its museum (known for its religious art) are worth a look. In addition, Avila was the birthplace of St. Theresa of Avila and several relics can be viewed at the Convento de San Jose.
Segovia
Yet another of Spain’s cities awarded UNESCO World Heritage status, Segovia’s well-preserved, tiered Roman Aqueduct is a world famous attraction. The Alcazar of Segovia is a stunning, almost picture perfect fortress that dates from the 13th century, although its design was tinkered with until the 16th century. Be sure to see the La Dama de las Catedrales (the Lady of Cathedrals), which is known for its gothic design and interesting ornamentation.
Valencia
Valencia is the gateway to the Costa Blanca, another of Spain’s noted beach areas. Valencia has some excellent beaches and it Cathedral is worth a visit. The city’s most popular attraction, however, is the La Lonja de la Seda, the Silk Exchange, that dates from 15th century. The Silk Exchange, is a series of impressive Gothic-style buildings that marked the center of commerce in Valencia, Spain’s major Mediterranean port during the 15th and 16th centuries.

Bilbao
Bilbao makes the list based, mainly, on the Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry. Bilbao’s Old Town is interesting and should be toured if the Guggenheim’s pull is enough to lure you to the city. For information about the Guggenheim, click this link.
Balearic Isles
Reachable by ferry, Mallorca (Majorca) is an exotic destination. Palma, the main city, has two fine cathedrals, interesting shopping, and is a great place to wander. For a great view of Palma, visit the hilltop castle (Castell del Bellver), which now serves as a historical/archaeological museum
